How These Astronauts Are Reaching for the Stars
Open in Clue About this video
From the heart of Dubai, a new generation of explorers is reaching for the stars. Meet Nora AlMatrooshi, the first Emirati and Arab woman astronaut, and Mohammed Al Mulla, a former Dubai police pilot turned space explorer, both training with NASA in Houston to one day journey beyond Earth’s atmosphere. At the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, engineers and scientists are not only preparing astronauts for space but also building satellites to monitor our changing planet and developing lunar rovers to explore the Moon’s surface. Though their first lunar mission ended in a crash, the team, led by Dr. Solid Mina, rebuilt and is preparing to launch again, determined to turn setbacks into stepping stones toward the stars. From underwater astronaut training to moon-bound robots, this is the story of how the UAE is shaping the future of space exploration, and inspiring a new generation across the Arab world to dream bigger, look higher, and think beyond our planet. 00:00 - A New Era of Space Exploration 00:37 - The Spirit of Discovery 01:20 - Meet the Emirati Astronauts 01:47 - Training for Space in Houston 02:35 - Following in Historic Footsteps 03:32 - The Challenge of Zero Gravity 05:06 - Space Satellites for Earth’s Future 06:31 - Building the Next Generation of Rovers 08:25 - The Moon Mission That Changed Everything 09:33 - Lessons Learned and Looking Ahead This Great Big Story is sponsored by @museumofthefuture #spacetravel #spaceexploration #astronaut #greatbigstory Welcome to Great Big Story - Where the extraordinary hides in plain sight.
