About this video

Technology was supposed to enhance our lives. And for the most part, it does. But it's also contributing to us feeling more isolated, more anxious, and more disconnected from each other. Helen's talk shares how we can reverse this tech takeover by introducing moments of intentional human connection into our daily lives. Small, simple things that remind us what we've forgotten: we are human by habit - and we can choose which habits to keep. Helen Joy founded People Spark after spending over a decade leading teams and watching good managers burn out under impossible expectations. She helps overstretched leaders build confident, capable teams, without the micromanaging or the meltdowns. Her work is practical and human. No corporate jargon, no quick fixes, just honest conversations about what actually works when you're leading people in the real world. But her focus has expanded beyond leadership. Through A Million Human Moments, Helen is working to bring intentional connection back into a world that's become increasingly transactional. It starts in the workplace, where connection has been quietly engineered out, but the mission is bigger than that. It's about creating small, meaningful moments that remind us what it means to be human. Because technology might be shaping how we work, but it's humanity that will determine whether that work is worth doing. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
