Why More Data Won’t Fix What We Misunderstand | Aman Bhargava Vivek Matthew | TEDxBangalore Salon
Open in Clue About this video
When was the last time a data story actually changed how you see the world? Aman Bhargava and Vivek Matthew, co-founders of Diagram Chasing, spoke at TEDxBangalore Salon BUILD to ask an uncomfortable question: Is data journalism actually working? Aman brings expertise in design, development, and data visualization. Vivek is an active contributor to OpenStreetMap and a passionate open-data advocate. Together, they build data-driven stories and tools for India, releasing all code and data publicly under open licenses, and practicing full-stack data journalism from raw datasets to the final interactive experience. This talk will make you rethink the last data story you consumed, and why it may have taught you less than you think. Aman Bhargava is a designer and developer with a deep interest in data visualization and maps. Vivek Matthew is an open-data enthusiast and active contributor to the OpenStreetMap project in India. Together, they founded Diagram Chasing in 2024 to build the kind of data-driven stories and tools they wished existed for India, practicing full-stack data journalism from raw datasets to the final interactive experience — with all code and data released publicly under open licenses. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
