About this episode
November is synonymous with Black Friday, great deals but what cost? Over consumption is endangering our already fragile planet. Is it time to change our ways? This week Do You Really Know is highlighting concepts and initiatives about reducing our consumption. According to the World Wildlife Foundation, roughly a third of all produced in the world goes to waste. What’s more the United Nations’ Food and Agricultural Organisation says that food waste accounts for a third of all human-caused greenhouse gas emissions and 8% of greenhouse gas emissions in total. With that in mind, we might feel guilty when we don’t finish our dinner, or leave something in the fridge for too long and have to throw it out. Where do these problems come from? Do new technologies have a part to play in this? What about imperfect food items? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!
