Brenda Schaefer, a beautiful 36 year old from Louisville Kentucky, went missing in September of 1988. Her car was found abandoned and vandalized early on a Sunday morning, but Brenda was nowhere to be found. Mel Ignatow, Brenda’s one-time fiancé, was an immediate suspect, but there was no direct evidence implicating him and no body. In part one of this two-part episode, we discuss Brenda’s background, Brenda and Mel’s relationship, and the investigation into her disappearance.
