About this episode

In 2007, paleontologist Ken Lacovara suspected he'd made a huge discovery in an unexpected spot. Tucked behind a Lowe's hardware store in a strip mall in New Jersey he found one of the most intact fossil beds from 66 million years ago. Recently a new museum opened at the dig site, where visitors can learn more about the day an asteroid struck the earth, killing the dinosaurs, and even go hunting for their own fossils. <a href="https://one.npr.org/i/1250191975:1269285875"target="_blank" >Listen to the full episode on the TED Radio Hour podcast and <a href="https://www.npr.org/2024/08/16/g-s1-16813/paleontologist-ken-lacovara-and-the-fifth-extinction-that-killed-the-dinosaurs"target="_blank" >see photos from the quarry.

See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for sponsorship and to manage your podcast sponsorship preferences.

NPR Privacy Policy
