Iran-US peace deal has been agreed says Pakistan’s Prime Minister | BBC News

A “final, agreed upon text of the peace deal has been reached” between the US and Iran, according to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Pakistan has been playing a leading role in negotiations between the two countries. Sharif made the statement in a post on social media. It came as officials in the US and Iran warned against trusting reports setting out the details of a possible agreement. Iran’s foreign minister said that Abbas Araghchi earlier stated that a deal had “never been closer” , while all warning that the “media should refrain from speculation about its content”. US President Donald Trump reposted Araghchi's statement, which also asked the media not to speculate about the content of the deal. Iranian media have published details of the alleged deal, prompting Trump to say they had "nothing to do with the terms that were agreed to" and "bears no relation to the truth". Trump accused Tehran of leaking the details and added that they were "very dishonourable people to deal with". Speculation has centred on the terms of any deal regarding control over the strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear programme. Iran has insisted that it will retain control over the key shipping lane and has rejected US demands to abandon it nuclear enrichment programme. The US says Iran’s nuclear material will be destroyed and removed from the country. A day earlier the US president said he had cancelled "scheduled attacks" against Iran, because negotiators had "just made a great settlement" - a deal that was likely be to signed imminently. Flight 171 crashed just 32 seconds after takeoff, killing 260 people. One man onboard survived. But many families of the victims have been voicing their frustration with the process, and the lack of answers they have been offered. But in places such as Utah, where a 62 square mile data centre has been approved, voters are voicing their concerns. These concerns range from the environmental impact; the effect on property prices and electricity costs; the constant noise and the aesthetic impact of these enormous buildings on the landscape. This opposition is bi-partisan - affecting both Democrat and Republican voting areas and politicians in Washington have started to take note. Democrat Senator Bernie Sanders has sponsored a bill calling for the immediate moratorium on the building of new data centres, arguing that the federal government needs time to better regulate the AI industry. Iran has insisted that a final decision on an agreement to end the current conflict with the US has not yet been reached, despite President Donald Trump again claiming a deal was likely to be signed imminently. President Trump had declared the US would strike Iran "very hard" again on Thursday, but later said he was cancelling the strikes because negotiators had "just made a great settlement" with Iran. He told reporters it was "subject to finalisation of documents, which should get done, over the next few days" and that there would "probably" be a signing ceremony in Europe. But Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said reports of an agreement were "speculative" and "nothing has been finalised". Artan says he told border officials he knows nothing about the Somali militant group Al Shabab.
