Why do facts so often fail to change minds? Drawing on personal experience, behavioral science, and powerful real-world examples, Anam Naz Nawaz unpacks the hidden reason arguments backfire, and what to do instead. She introduces a three-step approach for entering difficult conversations in a way that builds understanding instead of resistance. Anam Nawaz is a political researcher whose work is informed by lived experience across Pakistan, Syria, and France. She focuses on polarization and prejudice, examining how identity and belonging shape the ways societies fracture and connect. After a decade of experience in corporate communications and marketing across diverse cultural contexts, she broadened her work into political research, bringing a sharp focus to how narratives and perceptions structure division and cohesion in public life. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
