#Belfast #NorthernIrelandTwelve police officers have been injured and 16 people arrested in the second night of rioting in Northern Ireland. A water cannon was deployed to disperse a large crowd during the unrest prompted by a serious knife attack in Belfast on Monday. The family of the victim, Stephen Ogilvie, said they did not want this "terrible tragedy to be used to divide people or fuel hostility," and appealed for privacy. Hilary Benn, the UK Northern Ireland secretary, said a sense of fear "has spread amongst ethnic minority people" in Northern Ireland after the nights of violence. On Wednesday, a 30-year-old, originally from Sudan, appeared in court charged with attempted murder over a knife attack that caused serious injuries to the victim.
