Over deze video

We humans have bodily awareness that gives us proprioception — but what about robots? Fernando Díaz Ledezma explains how giving robots an inner sense of their body can make them more resilient and adaptive. He further explains why this ability could be a major step forward in enabling robots to truly be able to interact with our world and learn about their self on their own. Fernando Díaz Ledezma is a robotics researcher at the Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MIRMI) at the Technical University of Munich. His work explores how robots can develop a sense of their own physical body through learning, enabling them to adapt, recover from damage, and interact more naturally with the world. By combining insights from robotics, neuroscience, and embodied intelligence, Fernando is helping shape the next generation of adaptive and resilient machines. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
