Most people think defiance has to be loud, forceful, or aggressive. It doesn't. Drawing on her groundbreaking research and a defining moment watching her quiet mother speak up, Cornell professor and organizational psychologist Dr. Sunita Sah explains why we stay silent even when we know we shouldn't. She shares the Defiance Compass: three simple questions to help you build the practice of quiet defiance and speak up when it matters. Sunita is an award-winning organizational psychologist at Cornell University, conducting groundbreaking research on defiance, advice, and influence. As a former NHS physician and executive, she provides multidisciplinary insights into advisor-advisee dynamics, transparency, and institutional trust. Her research has appeared in leading academic journals and media outlets, including The New York Times, Financial Times, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, and Scientific American. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
