All right. I've been waiting a long time to meet this man. The Russell's here. New album's coming. Something's in the water.

Thank you for coming. >> Gratitude. >> So, I was telling you this is my first interview of the year. First interview back from maternity leave.

And man, your energy is infectious through computer screens, through iPhones, you know, so meeting you in person like it feels amazing. >> Dope. I appreciate it.

>> You have a big year ahead. you know, you're going to be um performing Super Bowl 60. That's definitely a big look. Um and it's something that you've been building up to

for a long time. So, the top of the year, people usually start by setting out all these massive goals for themselves. You know, all the things I want to accomplish this year and a lot of people fall short, right?

They don't follow up. It seems like you have very much been planting seeds for a long time now and working very, very diligently. So, do you start with big goals at the top of every year?

I generally don't um I just get to rolling, you know. I look at it all as just like one lifetime. So, I just get to rolling. You know, I do feel the energy that this is

going to be a big year for us, but we really where we left off last year just kind of kind of it kept on moving. >> That's kind of the way to go. I think instead of putting all this pressure to perform

at one specific spot, >> you just really really keep it moving and keep it building. And I mean, I think it's incredible that so you have been an incredibly successful independent artist. It takes a lot of drive and willpower to be

able to push your career forward that way, you know, like what keeps you going? What keeps you motivated on those days when you're just tired and you want to give up? I know you don't.

>> Some days I do. Some days I do. It's so It's so much work to be a successful indie artist. You know, there's a lot of like commentary around like

everybody should go independent. You should be independent. Here's why. And people don't understand how much work it is. Like everything that you generally have a staff of 200

to assist you with, you now doing by yourself with whatever staff you have and and some of us don't even have a staff, you know? So, it's it's definitely difficult. But the the thing that keeps me moving is like

every time we get a win, it's really like a win. And like us at Super Bowl is like these is my homies from Richmond and from Oakland and from Frisco who really from the turf that I'm from who grew

up and came up how I came up doing it. You know, it's not because we met this person from this team who gave us this, you know, this is really like ground boots on the ground. >> Yeah.

I think when you know for people who are maybe just getting familiar with you when they're going to see you performing at the Super Bowl, automatically they think, yeah, you've just been handed things, right? people are never seeing all of the work that you've
