À propos de cette vidéo

I built a balustrade with just a touch of whimsy, one day fit for a fairy (I hope!) This front entrance and deck needs a lot of work, and this is the beginning :) In this video: 00:00 The plan + fixing steps 02:52 Inspiration + design 04:07 Cutting the pieces + checking seeds 13:06 Putting it all together 21:02 Final decorative pieces Music licensed with: Epidemic Sound https://share.epidemicsound.com/1nx243 Find me elsewhere: Instagram: @roamingwildrosie Web: https://roamingwildrosie.com/ where I write about walking a lot.

So, this is the front of my house. It needs a lot of work. I did start building a deck. I have some steps. I started to work on a porch to look at

how I could make that cuter, but everything is very much in the very beginning stages. I have a bunch of ideas to make it so much nicer. I'm kind of excited about this because I'm hoping that

visually this project is going to make a big difference. I want to tackle this side of the deck. And I'm going to start with making a railing for these steps. I'm imagining a very cute railing because the bigger idea

is for this porch to incorporate planters with climbing vines. And on this side, I also want plants to grow up and for it to become this dreamlike enchanted thing. Maybe. Hopefully.

I started a few days ago. I started by actually fixing these steps finally. When I put in these stringers last year, I didn't quite put them in evenly. The beam underneath is warped.

So, I'm going to take out this middle one, put it in differently. All right. Some of these were a little warped, but luckily I did get them in.

I need to get more planks and also risers. So, the plan is to make a stair railing that goes up on this side and turns around here. And I've been working on a design. There were a few design directions I was thinking of

going into. There was one inspiration image that I particularly liked, and that was this one. I really like what they did here. So, I'm mostly just going to copy this.

And I did a drawing because I wanted to add a bit of whimsy. And I was sort of struggling with how much I wanted to add. I have this bench on the side of the house

and I added these little animal feet at the front which I think is really cute. And I wanted to do something similar. So I did this design for a little bit more of an ornamental cute design and one that wasn't that

much different but just had like a touch of something cute. I was tempted by the whimsical version, but at the end of the day, even though I love whimsical cute designs, I love it for someone else.

I'm keeping it quite simple. And I'm just adding some animal feeds to it because I actually think if vines end up growing around this, it's going to be I think it's going to look gorgeous.

So, I made a little drawing which I took to the shop and picked up as much wood as I could. I picked up timber, but I also have some leftovers that I can use.

I also got this steel rod which I think could be a good fixing solution cuz I'm not quite sure how else to do it. Okay, I've only got 3 days to get this started. So, I'm not quite sure how far I'll get in

between me picking up the materials, doing the design, and starting to make it. Um, I actually went away for more than a week. So, I just had a look at my seeds, which I left in the kitchen to see how they were

doing. So, I watered all of these trays and put them in the kitchen so they would be out of the sun for the time that I wasn't here. But seems like I watered them too much.
