Motherkind
Zoe Blaskey
Motherkind is the podcast for women who know that motherhood changes everything — and want to grow forward, not “bounce back”. Hosted by Zoe Blaskey, Motherkind explores the profound personal, emotional and professional transformation that happens when you become a mother. This is a space for women navigating the wild, identity-shifting years of motherhood who want to reclaim confidence, redefine ambition, and build a life that works for who they are now. Each week, Zoe sits down with world-leading experts, thought leaders, psychologists, authors and well-known figures to unpack the real experiences of modern motherhood — from matrescence and identity loss to confidence, boundaries, work, relationships and self-worth. Expect honest conversations, evidence-based insight and practical tools that help you move through this season with clarity and strength. Motherkind is not about doing more, fixing yourself, or returning to who you were before children. It’s about becoming who you are now — with intention, compassion and growth. If you’re a mother who wants to feel more like herself again — confident, grounded and excited about what’s next — this is your place. Motherkind: for the woman behind the mother.

4 févr. 202149 minJane Tavakalian, also known as Jane Lightworker, is a mum of three, an intuitive business and life coach and the creator of the #1 course for empathetic people looking to take their energy and power back. Energy is finite. We only have so much of it each day, and yet often without knowing it we give that energy far too quickly to other people and things that aren't that important to us. We feel exhausted and depleted, not from lack of sleep, but from allowing ourselves to be drained by what's going on outside of us. You will learn: - What it means to be an empath - How to know if you are one - Navigate the energy around you as a parent - How to reconnect with yourself - How to shift your whole experience of life with a mindset change - The Law of Assumption and how to use it to transform your day As you may already know, I’m very excited about our sponsor, Zendium toothpaste. Why parenting is generational with Philippa Perry
21 janv. 20211h 3mAfter reading The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read (and Your Children Will Be Glad That You Did), I knew I had to get Philippa Perry on the podcast. She is a renowned psychotherapist, author, journalist, and television presenter, and the wife of artist Grayson Perry. In this episode she helps us unpack what gets in the way of connecting with our children. She would like children to be able to tell their parents absolutely anything. And, as parents, she says it could be dangerous to close that down. If we can have a strong healthy connection with our kids, the future can take care of itself. We dig into: - How to have connected, trusting relationships with our children (even if we didn't have that with our own parents) - What gets in the way of having a good connection with our kids and what can enhance it - The trouble with not feeling our own pain - The generational cycles of parenting - What does it mean to give our kids 'enough' attention - Authenticity vs perfection parenting - How to help children express anger without acting out There is so much heart and wisdom in this exchange with Philippa. I hope you can feel it too. DISCOUNT FOR THE MOTHERKIND COMMUNITY As you may already know, I’m very excited about our sponsor, Zendium toothpaste. How to make your peace of mind a priority with Sheri Riley
14 janv. 202156 minSheri Riley says that peace is the new success and we need to make it our highest priority. I absolutely love that and I’m so pleased she joined me for such a powerful and uplifting conversation on the Motherkind podcast. We think that pursuing peace means that we need to calm down or slow down. She says the opposite is true and that the power of peace is what is going to enhance our lives and fill the void. Real, internal, palpable, and substantive peace. I could list a dozen more bullets about what we dug into, here are just a few: - Sheri's breakdown to breakthrough - How Sheri did a 360-degree transformation of her life - How to put interconnectedness and calm first - Why is peace the new success - How do you stop putting 100% of your time on 10% of who you are expecting 100% of your fulfillment - How do you love the career you have and your life Big gratitude to Zendium for supporting me and the podcast. Dr Rangan Chatterjee
29 déc. 202059 minDr. Rangan Chatterjee joins me on the podcast, and we jump right into a very honest and passionate conversation from the start. He believes that everyone has the ability to feel better. The solution isn’t always in a pill. It’s a lifestyle prescription. And, he’s taking a stand: people are needlessly suffering and this is preventable and unacceptable. After many years of seeing patients, he has come to the realisation that all of us can feel much better than we currently do and good health is accessible to every single one of us. He’s written four books and his latest, Feel Great Lose Weight, offers a simple five-step plan to feel better, sleep well and move more. I read every single word of this book and loved it. This book has so much power and richness in it. And it’s about so much more than losing weight. You can hear the compassion in his voice throughout this episode. He was so open and honest and generous. I hope you’ll enjoy this conversation as much as I did. In this episode we get into: - Rangan's incredibly honest experience of 2020 - Generational imprinting - Obesity and adverse childhood experiences - I challenge him on why he wrote a book on weight loss - How Covid can bring us a greater awareness of ourselves As you may already know, I’m very excited about our sponsor, Zendium toothpaste. Gelong Thubten (re-release)Is happiness a choice
21 déc. 202058 minThis week I thought, with the New Year, it would be great to re-release a fantastic chat I had with Gelong Thubten, who is a meditation teacher and author of the fantastic book, ‘A Monk’s Guide to Happiness’. Thubten was led to completely change his life after suffering from burnout in his early 20s. This led him to a Buddhist monastery in Scotland where he studied and was ordained as a monk. Since then, Thubten has been sharing his wisdom worldwide and is a pioneer in mindfulness meditation. Thubten has over 20 years worth of experience working with schools, universities and businesses, such as Google. He’s lectured at institutions like Oxford and the UN and, he worked as a consultant on the Marvel Movie, ‘Dr. Strange’. In our conversation, we unpacked what happiness really is and we talked about how can we find freedom from our 'crazy minds'. We also talked about meditation, of course, and Thubten did a great job re-framing some of the resistance that we often feel towards meditation. Thubten also gives guidance around how the practice can support our children and the way we show up as parents. I really loved our conversation, and hope you enjoy it too. Joanna Fortune (re-release)- How to profoundly connect with your child(in just 15 minutes a day)
21 déc. 202058 minThis week I’m delighted to re-release this popular and important episode with the lovely Joanna Fortune. Joanna is a clinical psychotherapist, an attachment specialist, and the author of the brilliant series of books, ’15 Minute Parenting’. Joanna has been working with children and families for over 20 years. She came up with the fantastic concept of ‘15 Minute Parenting’ after hearing from parents over and over again that, often, they only had 15 minutes of quality time every day to connect with their children. The books centre around how we can use play to connect with our children, underpinned by Joanna’s years of experience in psychotherapy and attachment theory. We had such a great conversation, exploring self-parenting and taking care of our own stuff as the caregivers for our children. We also talk about our inner critic and relationship with shame – and how to be aware of when we might be passing this on to our children. And towards the end of our conversation, we talk about play and some of Joanna’s 15-minute parenting ethos that can help us connect with our children in just 15 minutes a day. Zendium is the number 1 trusted toothpaste brand by dentists in Scandinavia. Zendium’s kids toothpaste contains natural enzymes already present in the mouth. Why breathwork is your super power with Richie Bostock
29 oct. 202049 minThis week, I’m really excited to be speaking with Richie Bostock. Richie is a breathwork coach, author and speaker, and he’s made it his mission to spread the life-changing possibilities of breathwork. Richie’s book, Exhale, is fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about using your breath for healing. No-one ever really teaches us ‘how’ to breathe and so many of us are actually breathing in ways that aren’t serving us. In the episode, we explore how we can change the way that we feel through the way that we breathe. Richie also shares some simple breathing techniques that you can use throughout your day to help shift your energy and feel better. We also talk about how breath can be used for healing and why sometimes it can be more effective to start with bodywork practices, such as breathwork, than with traditional talking therapy. How to Begin Your Healing with Susy O'Hare
22 oct. 202054 minI’m excited to share this week’s conversation with you. I’m speaking with Susy O’Hare, who is an author, a meditation teacher and a mother to three, very soon to be four, children. Susy’s first book is called ‘Diary of an ADHD Mum’ and since then, her work has expanded to talk about the huge importance of healing ourselves, instead of trying to ‘fix’ our children. Susy and I both believe this is the most profound way to raise our children – and we have a really deep conversation around this topic. We talk about allowing ourselves to understand that our children are our mirror, reflecting back what work we need to do on ourselves. Susy shares her wisdom from a very grounded, down-to-earth place. She’s a busy working mum and life hasn’t always looked this way for her. Susy shares her own traumas and how she felt she got her parenting ‘wrong’ for a long time, until the gift of her daughter arrived which was the start of her healing journey. I think you’ll find this a really inspiring conversation. For the full show notes, please head over to www.motherkind.co. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

17 sept. 202056 minThis week I’m delighted to welcome the lovely Joanna Fortune to the podcast. I really enjoyed our conversation and hope you will, too. For the full show notes, please head over to motherkind.co. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Reflections on Motherhood and Redefining Success with Ella Mills
3 sept. 202054 minWe’re back after our summer break with a brand-new season of the podcast, and some incredible guests coming up for you. This week, I’m super excited to be speaking with Ella Mills. Ella is the founder and creator of Deliciously Ella. From her early beginnings as a blogger, Ella has grown the brand into a hugely successful company, spanning a number of bestselling cookbooks, an app, a deli in central London and a range of plant-based food products. I’ve been following Ella online for a long time and we had such a brilliant conversation about motherhood and redefining success. Ella is mum to her daughter Skye, who just turned one. When we recorded this conversation, she was 33 weeks pregnant and getting ready to give birth to her second child. We talked about Ella’s experience of early motherhood from her first pregnancy and what she plans to do differently this time. She shares her journey with guilt and pressure and how she is finding balance as a mother and founder of a a very busy, successful company. We also talk about Ella’s own childhood and how it’s shaped how she is now raising her own daughters. I really loved my conversation with Ella, and I hope you enjoy it too. Re-Release - How to stop saying yes when you mean no with Sarah Knight
20 août 202042 minThis week, we’re re-releasing the interview I did last year with the brilliant Sarah Knight. Sarah is the author of the ‘No ‘F*ck’s Given’ guides – including the bestselling book ‘The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving an F*ck’ and her most recent book, ‘F*ck No!’ This episode does come with an ‘explicit’ warning as there’s quite a bit of swearing - so it might be best to listen with headphones on, away from little ears! In this episode, we talk about how to say ‘no’. I’m a real stickler for keeping boundaries – because it’s so important to protect our precious time and energy. Sarah teaches us how to say no in a number of scenarios, and importantly how not to feel guilty about it afterwards. I think you’ll really enjoy this one. Re-Release - Conscious Parenting with Dr. Shefali Tsabary
14 août 202049 minWe’ve got another fantastic re-release for you this week. My interview with Dr. Shefali Tsabary was a really important moment for me on the podcast, having been a huge fan of her work for years. Oprah described Dr. Shefali as the world’s most profound parenting coach – calling her work ‘so profound her ideas might just change the world’. Dr. Shefali’s book, ‘The Conscious Parent’ is my absolute favourite parenting book and it made a real impact on me whilst I was pregnant with Jesse. In this episode, we talk about what conscious parenting is and how it can become a gateway to learn more about ourselves. We also talk about the difference between control and connection, as well as the pressure we put on ourselves as parents. I really hope you enjoy the episode. Re-Release - How our childhood shapes every aspect of our lives with Dr. Gabor Maté
7 août 202043 minThis month, we’re re-releasing some of our favourite episodes of the podcast. We start with my interview with Dr. Gabor Maté, which I often refer to as the most important conversation I’ve ever had on the podcast. Dr. Gabor is highly sought after for his expertise on a range of topics including addiction, trauma, stress and childhood development. His work has been profoundly impactful in not just my own life, but that of so many others. In this episode, we speak about addiction, childhood trauma, modern parenting practices and the impact of stress on our parenting. Dr. Gabor explains how everything in our lives can be traced back to our childhood and how this impacts the way that we parent now. It’s a really compassionate, judgement-free conversation and I think it might help you to find a deeper understanding of yourself, and your children. I hope you enjoy the episode.
