The 24 items are calibrated against the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the standard used by Cambridge, IELTS, the EU and most language schools. Each level (A1 → C2) is tested with four questions covering grammar, vocabulary, register and idiom typical of that band.
It's a screener, not a certificate. For Cambridge or IELTS-grade accuracy, sit a formal exam. For choosing which podcasts, books and YouTube channels to study with — this is enough.
Frequently asked questions
What is the CEFR?
The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages defines six levels of language proficiency: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2. A1/A2 are beginner, B1/B2 intermediate, C1/C2 advanced.
How accurate is this 5-minute test?
Reliable ballpark — typically within one half-band of a formal placement. Sit a Cambridge/IELTS exam for certified accuracy.
