Why Nobody Can Fix Britain

Britain elected Keir Starmer in the biggest Labour landslide since 1997. One promise: change. Less than two years later, that promise is dead. The economy is barely growing. Public debt is at levels not seen in over 60 years. The NHS is buckling. And Starmer is now one of the most unpopular leaders in the democratic world. In this video, we break down how Britain ended up here. The roots go back decades, through Thatcher, the 2008 financial crisis, austerity, Brexit, and the pandemic. Every government promised to fix it. None of them did. Now Britain is heading into local elections that could end Starmer's premiership and trigger the country's sixth Prime Minister in seven years. New parties on the left and right are rising fast, each with their own answer to Britain's decline. Neither one adds up. This is the story of how Britain became broken, and why kicking out Keir Starmer won't fix it. 00:00 - Intro 01:39 - A Prime Minister on the Edge 03:11 - The Lost Decade(s) 07:56 - Splinter Effect Includes music by Tom Fox – tomfox.site

Both hockey teams lost gold in overtime. The bobsled team got shut out for the first time in 24 years. The country finished 8th in total medals. But this is not a hockey story. This is a story about what happens when a country with more natural resource wealth than almost anywhere on earth chooses to spend it all instead of saving it. Norway, a country one-seventh Canada's size, built a $2.2 trillion sovereign wealth fund and the greatest winter sports system in Olympic history. Alberta created its savings fund 14 years earlier, and today it is worth 80x less. We trace how hockey went from Canada's defining sport to a $5,000/year luxury that excludes nearly half the population. How youth registration dropped 35% in 14 years. How Canada spends $8 per citizen on sport while France spends $950. How the country's Olympic athletes live below the poverty line while the government allocates zero new funding. How outdoor rinks are melting, indoor arenas are crumbling, and the Calgary bobsled track was just demolished. And how Norway's model, built on the same resource wealth Canada squandered, shows exactly what was possible. 00:00 - Intro 01:29 - The Price Tag 06:12 - Pay to Play 10:42 - The Identity Problem 13:17 - The Norwegian Answer Includes music by Tom Fox – tomfox.site

How Corruption Destroyed South Asia

When the minister's son posts a $40,000 Christmas flex on Instagram, when Sheikh Hasina builds a $530 million UK property empire on a $12,000 salary, when a nuclear power plant costs twice what it should and pillows get billed at $49 each, Gen Z had enough. Mass protests toppled governments across South Asia in 2024 and 2025. Student movements in Bangladesh, Nepal corruption protests, and Sri Lanka economic crisis demonstrations unseated entrenched political elites. Sheikh Hasina fled Bangladesh after youth-led uprisings exposed decades of embezzlement and government corruption. Nepal's Gen Z took to the streets after viral Instagram posts revealed the extreme wealth of politicians' children. Sri Lanka's Rajapaksa family lost power when their economic mismanagement pushed the country into default. Now comes the hard part: turning street energy into actual political change. We went to Kathmandu, talked to students who marched, youth leaders negotiating with the old guard, and investigative journalists covering the fallout. The revolutions happened. The question is whether they stick, or whether the same entrenched parties with deeper pockets and patronage networks simply reclaim power at the ballot box. Bangladesh elections in February 2025 and Nepal elections in March 2025 will test whether youth movements can translate protest momentum into electoral victory. Sri Lanka offers one path forward under new president AKD. This is the story of what happens when a stolen future fights back, and whether South Asia's political corruption can finally be broken by a new generation demanding accountability, economic reform, and an end to dynastic politics. 00:00 - Intro 01:33 - The Art of the Steal 08:12 - Inside the Revolution 13:55 - The Future Includes music by Tom Fox – tomfox.site

France Has a Pension Problem

President Emmanuel Macron raised the retirement age from 62 to 64 in an attempt to stop the collapse of France’s pension system. Millions of protesters flooded the streets. Trade unions went on strike. Public transport shut down. Garbage piled up across Paris. France came to a standstill. But behind the chaos was a hard economic reality. French pension spending has exploded. Pensioners now earn more than the average working French adult. Since 1970, wages in France have increased roughly 100 percent, while pensions grew closer to 160 percent. France now spends nearly 14 percent of its GDP on pensions, one of the highest rates in the developed world. In 2025, Parliament froze Macron’s pension reform until at least 2028, adding nearly €2 billion in costs. And pensions are only one part of a much larger crisis. France has run persistent budget deficits since the 1970s. Public debt is now over 110 percent of GDP and climbing. Economic growth is weak. Political fragmentation is extreme. In just a few months, OpenAI has signed more than a trillion dollars worth of chip and data center deals. Nvidia. AMD. Broadcom. Microsoft. Oracle. Amazon. CoreWeave. Everyone is now tied into the same machine. Nvidia kicked things off with a plan to put up to 100 billion dollars into OpenAI. Enough to build data centers that use as much electricity as New York City. Then came the AMD deal. OpenAI agreed to buy 90 billion dollars of GPUs. In return, AMD handed them warrants for 160 million shares worth nearly 40 billion dollars. Shares that OpenAI can buy for a penny. A week later, Broadcom showed up with a 350 billion dollar custom chip deal. And that was only part of the list. Oracle for 300 billion. Microsoft for 250. Amazon for 38. CoreWeave for 22.4. Add it all up and OpenAI has committed to 1.15 trillion dollars of infrastructure over the next five years. More than the annual capex of every company in America combined. The crazy part is that OpenAI is only projecting 20 billion dollars in revenue by the end of 2025. So the question becomes unavoidable. How do you spend like a trillion dollar giant when you are not a trillion dollar company? What happens if the money runs out? Eisenhower stood before the American people and issued a warning. He told the nation to "guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence" by what he called the military industrial complex. Few listened. Today, the United States spends almost 1 trillion dollars a year on its military. That is more than the next ten countries combined. Behind that number sits a tight web of corporations, lobbyists, and politicians who profit from every missile, jet, and warship built. Lockheed Martin. Raytheon. Boeing. Northrop Grumman. General Dynamics. These five companies have become the backbone of an economy that runs on conflict. This video explores how the American defense machine transformed from a wartime necessity into a permanent business model. It traces how the Second World War gave rise to defense contracting, how the Cold War cemented it, and how the collapse of the Soviet Union allowed these firms to consolidate power while ensuring the flow of taxpayer money never stopped. We look at how cost-plus contracts reward companies for overspending, how 1,700 former officials now work in the defense sector, and how over 80 percent of Congress consistently votes to increase the Pentagon budget. The revolving door between the Pentagon and defense contractors ensures that every general, every procurement officer, and every lobbyist has a personal stake in keeping the system alive. The people who start the wars are the same people who later cash in on rebuilding what those wars destroy. From the F-35 fighter jet that cost 1.7 trillion dollars, to aircraft carriers and missile systems that triple in price before completion, the defense industry has perfected a business model where failure pays better than success. 00:00 - Intro 02:32 - The Beginnings 06:16 - The Industry 11:23 - How to Keep the Bag

How the USSR Created The World’s Greatest Environmental Disaster
12 Eki 2025
What you’re about to see is one of the worst environmental disasters in human history. The Aral Sea, once the world’s third-largest lake, has almost completely disappeared. In the 1960s, the Soviet Union diverted two major rivers to grow cotton in the desert. Within a few decades, the water was gone, and so was an entire way of life. Today, the Aral Sea has shrunk to less than 10% of its original size, leaving behind rusting ships, toxic dust storms, and abandoned towns. Once home to thriving fishing industries, the region is now one of the poorest in Central Asia, plagued by high cancer rates, anemia, and birth defects caused by decades of pollution. In this 2&20 documentary, we travel across Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, from Almaty to Karakalpakstan and the ghost town of Muynaq, to uncover how one decision in Moscow caused one of the greatest ecological and economic collapses of the 20th century. You’ll see how Soviet ideology tried to "conquer nature," and why that failure still shapes the region today. 00:00 - Intro 01:25 - Into The Desert 08:00 - Destination Nukus 11:42 - The Human Costs 22:47 - Disaster Zone 26:15 - Conclusion
